For those weak in the ankles even when not around attractive women.
Holy smokes! These shoes are a total upgrade from the other Salomon's I had. When running trails I kept twisting my ankles. These trail running mids have made worlds of difference. They're also spot on for light hiking. Gotta love 'em.
Love the shoe
I have been wearing XA Pro 3D for years and they are by far my most popular shoes, so it was only natural that I'd try the mid version for my light hiking. I generally don't do much of a heavier hiking and camping, but I was looking for something little bit sturdier than my running shoes. So far they live to the expectations. Same agility and flex as my regular XA Pros but the higher top offers little more protection and tiny bit of a stability. I can comfortably run in these shoes and they also work great for dayhikes. Running in other light hikers I've tried was little hard in my opition. I think this is the best hybrid shoe for runners who want to have something more stable for occasional hikes but hate the idea of heavy boots.
XA Pro just little taller
Great light hiking shoe. It really feels more like a trail running or approach shoe than a hiking shoe. The shoe provides enough support for a day hike with a small 30 liter backpack and feels great. Good balance between flexibility and sturdiness I think.
Good trail shoe
This is a solid Salomon trail shoe good both for running and hiking. Stable platform with good grip thanks to their Contagrip compound mix that has good traction even on wet surfaces. The shoe is waterproof thanks to the goretex membrane. It gets little clammy in a warm weather though, but that's rarely an issue for me as it never gets warmer than 70 degrees here. Lacing is easy to figure out and works great.
